FLEXIZYME at the 27th International Symposium on Plant Lipids (ISPL)

From 5 to 10 July 2026, FLEXIZYME was represented at the International Symposium on Plant Lipids (ISPL), held in Málaga, Spain. During the event IG-CSIC presented a scientific poster entitled:

“Sustainable feedstocks for the enzymatic production of bio-based fatty amines”

The objectives of the analysis presented was to evaluate sustainable fatty acids and amino sources suitable for the enzymatic production of bio-based fatty amines, as well as to design efficient bioprocess pre-treatments for the selected feedstocks.

The study assessed different lipid raw materials and enzymes to optimise free fatty acid recovery, while hydrolisis strategies using legume by-products were investigated to maximise free amino acid availability. Results showed that Lipura Split achieved the highest hydrolisis performance, achieving up to 90%
recovery of free fatty acids; while lentils were identified as a promising sustainable protein source.

The findings contribute to the development of greener oleochemical processes and support the transition toward circular and bio-based industrial value chains.
