CluBE: Advancing Bioeconomy and Sustainability
The Cluster of Bioeconomy and Environment of Western Macedonia (CluBE) is a nonprofit organization based in Greece, dedicated to fostering regional collaboration, innovation, and sustainability. Established in 2014, CluBE brings together over 50 quintuple helix members spanning public sector, research and development, entrepreneurship, environmental organizations, and social enterprises.
CluBE specializes in bioeconomy, bioenergy, circular economy, clean energy technologies, and climate policies, among other fields. The organization plays a key role in stakeholder engagement, knowledge transfer, and mobilizing entrepreneurship, ensuring that innovative solutions reach real-world applications. Additionally, CluBE is actively involved in climate neutrality initiatives, leading the co-design process of Kozani’s Climate City Contract under the EU Mission for 100 climate-neutral and smart cities.

CluBE’s Role in the FLEXIZYME Project
Within the FLEXIZYME project, CluBE leads Work Package 1 (WP1): RRI Ecosystem – Ensuring Industrial Implementation. This initiative focuses on stakeholder engagement, public involvement, and training programs to ensure that FLEXIZYME’s biotechnological innovations are successfully adopted by industry and society.
In addition to WP1, CluBE plays a key role in Task 6.6: “Maximizing Circularity of the Biotechnological Process”, where it contributes expertise in enhancing sustainability and efficiency through circular economy principles. This involvement helps ensure that FLEXIZYME’s biotechnological solutions align with broader environmental and economic goals.
